Matt and his
father build a house in the woods but her mother and sister stay at home
because his mother was pregnant. So Matt´s father goes back home to look for them
and leaves Matt alone protecting the house for 7 weeks. One day a strange man
steals Matt´s rifle so he can´t hunt any more. He is so desperate to eat meat
that he goes walking in the forest, where he finds a behive. So, he is getting
the honey when the bees start going after Matt who jumps into the water.
Suddenly some Indians rescue him. Attean and his grandfather will give Matt
food and Matt will teach Attean how read
and write. As days go by, Attean and Matt start being friends and having great
adventures. With bears, signs, a dog, different cultures and lots of other
things. The seven weeks have already gone by and Matt´s family have not returned.
Attean invites Matt to go to live with them to the west. Will Matt accept the
invitation? Will his family come back? Is the baby already born? Read the book and
find out what will happen with these two amazing boys, Attean and Matt.
Friendship is a really important theme in
this book. Between Matt and Attean there is friendship eventhough Matt is white
and Attean black. If there wasn’t friendship between them the book would be
totally different. For example, Attean wouldn´t invite Matt to the west.
Really! This book wouldn´t be the same without friendship.
I recommend you to read this book because you
will be trapped for a week reading it without stopping. It has adventures and
suspense and you will think different about native Americans. Probably the book
will be more interesting if you are a teenager. But if you aren't, I would
recommend it to you anyway. Read and try having a good time yourself.
